Indian Education Tutoring Program
 Three part time tutors are needed for 2008/2009 school year

$9.00/$10.00 hourly starting wage
20 hours a week

Provide academic support to Native American students
in Saint Paul Public Schools during school.
Between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm.
Work around your class schedule.

  • Strong math and/or science background.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Good communication skills
  • Self starter and reliable
  • Interpersonal skills with youth required.
  • It is desirable not required that the applicant have knowledge or experiance working in the American Indian community.
Duties:
  1. Meet weekly with assigned students and provide academic assistance in the referred subject area at school.
  2. Maintain contacts with teachers, parents and Indian Education program staff in schools.
  3. Provide academic assistance/study skills in the areas of Math, Science and English or other areas as needed.
  4. Monitor progress of students.
  5. Document progress and maintain monthly reports.
Academic Tutor reports to the Academic Monitor and Program Supervisior.
College students and community members having experience tutoring are encouraged to apply.
